Selection of turning tools

According to the cutting characteristics of stainless steel, the tool material should have the characteristics of good heat resistance, high wear resistance, and small affinity with stainless steel. And can maintain excellent cutting and chip breaking performance at higher temperatures. The commonly used stainless steel cutting materials are: high-speed steel and cemented carbide.

(1) Since high-speed steel can only maintain its cutting performance at lower temperatures, it is not suitable for high-speed cutting.

(2) Cemented carbide has better heat resistance and wear resistance than high-speed steel, so the carbide tool is more suitable for stainless steel cutting.
